- Variant 1: Reference electrode at Fz. Unipolar connection.
- Variant 2: For scientific use. Common split reference on the right and left ears. Unipolar connection.
Electrode positions:
- F7, F8: Lateral frontal areas
- AF3: Left anterior frontal area, between Fp1 and F3 (left hemisphere)
- AF4: Right anterior frontal area, between Fp2 and F4 (right hemisphere)
- L Zygoma, R Zygoma: Cheek muscles (facial muscles, for EMG)
What each electrode records:
- Each electrode records the activity of the cortical area beneath it.
- Different brain areas are responsible for different functions.
- Comparing activity between electrodes shows interactions between brain regions.
